FDI commitment from China is 84 percent of the total FDI commitment received in the last financial year 2017-18, which is US $ 505 million.
According to Nepal’s Department of Industry (DoI), China has placed Nepal in the top of the list with Nepal’s FDI commitment of US $ 76 million and US $ 57 million, respectively, in the financial year 2016-17 and 2015-16.
According to the DOI, in the last financial year, India remained second with FDI resolution of US $ 46 million.
Ma Yong, a Chinese lawyer representing Shanghai-based Landing Law Office in Nepal, told Xinho last week that Chinese investment is growing in Nepal due to friendly relations, peaceful atmosphere and business opportunities between Nepal and China.
He said, “Nepal’s law is generally business friendly but there is scope for expediting the process of approval.”
